not tonight josephine
in an army’s strength therein
lies the denouement
from here you’re haunting me
by the seine so beautiful
only not to be of use - impossible
so strange, victory - 1,200 spires
the only sound, moscow burning
empty like the tuileries
like a dream vienna seems
only not to be of use - impossible
in the last extremity - to advance
or not to advance -
i hear you laughing
even still you’re calling me
“not tonight, not tonight
not tonight”
The pop phoenix rises. Crazy fierce and #1 on iTunes. Love a second chance, don’t you?

Despite hailing from the somewhat adolescent brand, Minx, The New York Four has a great visual style.
Update: Minx died!

Stricken City, “Tak o Tak”
This song is fun and that feather headdress is fierce!

Kevin Devine has a few great new songs out for download, including the ironic and smart “Love Me I’m a Liberal” (listen here), a modern day take on the Phil Ochs classic. With Conor Oberst evolving so ethereal with metaphor, it is refreshing to hear the shaky wail of direct, personal and political lyrics.
I’m very excited about tonight’s show. And tomorrow’s rain! (non-sequitur)
Kevin Devine covers Sinead O’Connor’s “Black Boys on Mopeds” - I was obsessed with this song in the late 90s and used to sing it in the shower. all. the. time. Stick around at the end for Kevin’s poignant thoughts on women who speak their mind. More relevant than ever as gender once again morphs into a wicked ace in the presidential election.
Sinead’s original, so beautiful.
